A celebration of cycling at Yorkshire 2019

The Yorkshire 2019 UCI Road Cycling World Championships started with a BANG today, as hundreds of thousands lined the route for the Para Cycling International. Today’s races were a showcase of para cyclists, and a vital step for them on the way to Tokyo 2020 qualification. World and Paralympic champions galore were in action including our greatest Paralympian, Dame Sarah Storey.

She told me after her victory in the Women’s C5 race she had not experienced crowds like it since London 2012. And I expect nothing less from Yorkshire! Over 36,000 piled into the Harrogate fanzone where I am hosting each and every day, with full capacity expected to be reached over the coming week, as the World Championships begin.

I’ll be on the main stage, and hosting at the finish line in VIP alongside the legendary Phil Liggett. Plus I’ll be co-presenting a women’s cycling evening with Hannah Walker, as Voxwomen and Rapha join forces to celebrate the best female riders past and present, including former world champion Mandy Jones and Yorkshire lass and national champion Lisa Brambani.

And finally I’ll be hosting a special evening dedicated to Beryl Burton and Tom Simpson, chatting to authors Will Fotheringham and Chris Sidwells about their respective books after the women’s road race.

  • Sunday 22nd September - Team Time Trial Mixed Relay - Harrogate circuit, 28km

  • Monday 23rd September – Women Junior Individual Time Trial – 14km
    I’ll be hosting in the Harrogate fanzone

  • Monday 23rd September - Men’s Junior Individual Time Trial – 28km

  • Tuesday 24th September – Ripon to Harrogate – Men Under 23 Individual Time Trial – 32.5k
    I’ll be hosting in the Harrogate fanzone

  • Tuesday 24th September - Women Elite Individual Time Trial - 32.5km

  • Wednesday 25th September – Northallerton to Harrogate – Men Elite Individual Time Trial – 54km

  • Thursday 26th September 26 – Richmond to Harrogate – Men Junior Road Race – 144.5km
    I’ll be in VIP.

  • Friday 27th September – Doncaster to Harrogate – Women Junior Road Race – 91.5km.
    I’ll be in VIP.

  • Friday 27th September – Men Under 23 Road Race – 192.5km

  • Saturday 28th September – Bradford to Harrogate – Women Elite Road Race – 149.5km
